The Ivas John Band

This past weekend I was treated to not one, but two fantastic performances by the Ivas John Band. These guys know their blues. Chicago, Kansas City, Texas, what-have-you; they've truly mastered every style out there with incredible ease and professionalism. An amateur musician myself, I was mesmerized, at times, by the intricacy of their chord progressions and flawless key changes. Few people understand the integrity and coherence that is required to project this kind of sound. Having somewhat of a jazz background, I can say, from personal experience, that it is extremely difficult. However, when you possess the kind of raw talent displayed by these four artists, it seems almost effortless from the other side of the stage. I strongly suggest catching their next performance December 3rd at Smoke Daddy in Wicker Park. 1804 W. Division.
